What Makes A Good Audition?

Auditioning is a skill.  There are plenty of incredible actors out there that are bad auditioners.  Here’s a couple of tips to help you become a good one:

  1. Be prepared.  Know the material.
  2. Be familiar with the show you’re auditioning for.  Even if you don’t watch it you can use the internet for research.
  3. Dress appropriately.  Always ask the casting director if there is a particular dress required.
  4. Make strong choices in your scene.  Nobody likes a boring audition.
  5. Show your personality.
  6. Bring a picture and resume.
  7. Be professional to everyone; that means the security guard and the production assistant at the front desk too.
  8. Don’t make excuses.
  9. Be on time.
  10. Be professional.  Every audition is a job interview.
